Our Founder

Monica S. Thomas, MBA is the Founder/President of Single Parent Superstars, INC, a Maryland non-profit, 501(c)3 organization, dedicated to empowering single parents,  through advocacy, mentoring, and support, to be relentless caregivers, guiding their children’s positive growth and development, no matter the circumstance.  Monica earned her Bachelor of Science from Howard University and her Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix.  She is currently working as Director of Health Sciences Program Effectiveness at Montgomery College in the Health Sciences Department.  Her experience in the development and maintenance of major education programs is a direct result of a variety of multi-faceted environments for over 14 years and counting.

Monica is a widowed, single parent of two, who has had a self-described supernatural experience as a mother.  She was pregnant with her son during her last year of undergraduate college, living in the nation’s capital, away from her family in Georgia, with the new responsibility and weight of MOTHERHOOD.  She watched her love struggle as a black man in America, fighting demons of incarceration, challenged self-worth, police brutality, and substance abuse.  They both struggled in youth together, trying to figure out this life.  While the whole world watched and murmured, that she is stupid and deserves to suffer, God came in gently and to her rescue.  He rescued her with His presence and gave her “eyes to see” through his WORD.  He spoke to her about her own difficult situation, gave her more information that was outside of her personal circumstance, and gave her the assignment to share with others.  He helped her and told her not to keep it a secret.
