Principles & Misconceptions

The SPS Curriculum is God-inspired, consisting of a group of faith-based Principles and Misconceptions.  To date, SPS Curriculum includes 20 Principles and 20 Misconceptions.  Oxford Languages dictionary defines a principle as a fundamental truth or proposition that serves as the foundation for a system of belief or behavior or for a chain of reasoning.  It defines a misconception as a view or opinion that is incorrect, based on faulty thinking or understanding. The audacity of a Single Parent Superstar, by faith, is our base! Who am I? What do I have the ability to do? How can I do what is necessary?

Everything good and perfect in my life comes from the Lord.

-M. Thomas

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

- James 1:17 Christian Standard Bible

 PRINCIPLES

SPS are fearless and do not allow fear to paralyze them
SPS have self-control
SPS understands that children are gifts from God; not punishment
SPS learn from past mistakes
SPS are not jealous of their children and can accept when other safe, well-intended adults take interest in them

MISCONCEPTIONS

I don’t have a real family
My baby is a mistake
I did not make this child alone and it should be 50:50 support between mother and father
Because we had this baby together, you belong to me
God is punishing me

In general, parenting is challenging. Single parenting is even more challenging. But, I know God is my help and I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. I want you to know it too.

No matter the circumstance, I believe what God says. I expect His goodness and declare His WORD over my life and the lives of my children. I want you to believe and do it too! I WILL SEE THE GOODNESS OF THE LORD IN THE LAND OF THE LIVING, and you will too!

The devil is a lie and has no authority over the children of God. Sometimes we mess up and bring difficulty to ourselves, and blame others. Lord help us. But guess what...it is okay to make a mistake and there is NO condemnation in Christ Jesus. He wants us to have a good life now and in eternity...with Him. We are forgiven! God is not punishing us! God is love. Be encouraged SPS!
